Realistic Portrait Tutorial by HaNJiHye Realistic Portrait Tutorial by HaNJiHye
I hope you can read my handwriting, also i'm not so great at explaining incase you didnt notice TAT
anyway, thats basically how i do portraits if i want them to be super realistic. for the final image i just did the hair and put some texture in the background which is only visible on certain screen resolutions apparently :P
maybe i'll do a hair tutorial at some point since i get that requested a lot.
Let me know what you think and if you want me to clarify something just let me know! :)

Does that mean I have to create the grid by hand when I'm traditionally drawing?

unfortunately, yes. but it usually doesn't take too long. I usually put 1 in or 2 in squares on 18x24 canvases, takes about a half hour. But if you do draw your grid make sure you do it lightly so that it doesn't show through your drawing/painting in the end.

Thanks! Really helpful! I'm sure it'll be worth it. Once I get rid of all that homework...

So this is super great! I am going to use this for sure! One question: how do you make your sweet grid?

i'm glad its helpfull!!!
for grids honestly i just google "grid" and find one with the number of squares i want. but if you want to draw your squares might not be perfect but that works just as well as long as you use the same grid for the photograph and for the canvas you are working on.
